National Mobility Awareness Month
Throughout the United States and Canada, there are over 18 million people that have mobility issues. This year NMEDA is doing something great for our local heroes. It’s called National Mobility Awareness Month. For those who have a disability, have pushed through tough times and are still on the move doing great things in their communities are considered to be local heroes.
To be entered into the contest a Local Hero has to submit either a video undertwo minutes long or they can submit a written story that is no longer than 400 words with a picture of themselves in a wheelchair. For the video, it cannot be larger than 50 MB and for the written story it cannot be larger than 5 MB. Your story has to be inspirational and include how you or the person you know overcomes the challenges in their daily life.
NMEDA will be picking three winners. If you have been selected to be a winner you will receive a brand new wheelchair accessible van that meets all your needs. The voting for this contest will begin March 11th and end May 9th. On May 30th the three winners will be contacted and in June the winners will be announced.
