Ford Transit: The E-Series Replacement
Beginning in the 1960s, Ford Motor Company’s European Division has produced light weight vehicles called the Transit. The Transit vehicle was designed to have better fuel economy while providing ample storage space for consumer and commercial users. After such great success in Europe, Ford recently decided to introduce the Transit into the United States. Even though the newly redesigned 2014 Transit Connect isn’t available, it’s already won awards for best in its class. Ford has stated the new Transit Connect will be able to carry a 1,650-pound payload and tow a 2,000-pound trailer when properly equipped. Additionally, the Ford Transit Connect has a four cylinder engine and is lighter than the Econoline. They will be available with many different powertrain combinations and interior configurations. The newly European inspired Transit will be available in early 2014.
